The Jason Marquis era appears to be over after only seven starts.
According to FOX Sports' Jon Morosi, the Minnesota Twins plan to designate the 33-year-old Marquis for assignment. The Twins would then have 10 days to place Marquis on waivers, trade him or release him.
Marquis allowed eight earned runs in only 1 2/3 innings against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, raising his ERA to 8.47 in 34 innings. Marquis has allowed nine home runs while walking 14 and striking out only 12.
The Twins signed Marquis to a one-year, $3 million deal this offseason hoping he'd eat innings and induce groundballs.
