UPDATE (4:15 P.M.): The Vikings confirmed the signing, meaning Johnson must have passed his physical.

The Vikings have added another piece to their defensive line, .

Johnson played 40 games for the Saints from 2011-13 and registered 55 combined tackles and 5 sacks.

Johnson, 29, represents a depth move for the Vikings.

His deal is pending a physical, according to the USA Today, and is for $845,000. It also includes $600,000 in performance incentives.

ESPN.com's Ben Goessling confirmed the signing Thursday, and added the contract details.

As Mark Craig of the Star Tribune wrote, Johnson also has spent time in the now-collapsed league, NFL Europe, as well as the Arena League and the Canadian Football League.
