Matt Cassel and Christian Ponder are in the fold for 2014, but it's clear the Vikings still need to address the quarterback position.

David Fales, the accurate passer from San Jose State, is on the Vikings' radar.

Fales has a private workout scheduled with the Vikings this weekend, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman attended the SJSU-Gophers game in September at TCF Bank Stadium.

Fales completed 64.1 percent of his 487 passes in 2013 for 4,189 yards. His 33:13 touchdown-to-interception ratio was a small step back from his 2012 mark, 33:9. He passed for nearly 4,200 yards in his junior and senior seasons.

He went 22-for-35 for 439 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 picks against the Gophers in September.

Perhaps Fales best game was in the final contest of the season, when he passed for 547 yards and 6 touchdowns on 37-of-45 and no interceptions.

Fales also rushed for a touchdown as he outdueled Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr in a 62-52 win.

The Vikings reportedly also have Carr on their radar, according to Ben Goessling of

The Vikings were in attendance Thursday at Derek Carr's pro day, Goessling wrote.

Carr is projected to be a first round selection, while Fales is not. The Vikings may use their top pick (currently No. 8) on a quarterback, or they could elect to make an effort to fix the defense and presumably draft a quarterback later in the draft.

Vikings fans, would you consider either of these players, given where they currently are slated in mock drafts?
