MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes' season is done.

The rookie was deactivated on Sunday as the Vikings also decided against suiting up the injured Adrian Peterson, Toby Gerhart and Letroy Guion

Quarterback Josh Freeman ends up being inactive for all but three games since joining the team in October. Quarterback Christian Ponder will backup Matt Cassel in the Week 17 bout against the Detroit Lions.

Guion (quadriceps) will sit as the Vikings' defensive line features a slew of players playing for new contracts. Defensive tackles Kevin Williams and Fred Evans, along with defensive ends Jared Allen and Everson Griffen are playing in the last game of their respective deals on Sunday.

Cornerback Chris Cook is also in the last game in his deal on Sunday and will get one more chance as the top cornerback to show why he's worth another contract. Cornerback Shaun Prater (ankle) was questionable, but is active and expected to play.

Linebacker Erin Henderson will start in the middle, but coach Leslie Frazier said this week that rookie Michael Mauti will get some looks as the game wears on.

The Lions star receiver Calvin Johnson is inactive, along with QB Kellen Moore, CB Chris Houston, CB Bill Bentley, CB Jonte Green, G Dylan Gandy and T LaAdrian Waddle.
