It appears Gophers men's basketball coach Richard Pitino has lured one of his best players from Florida International University.

Point guard Malik Smith tweeted Tuesday morning, "My decision is final. I'm a Minnesota Gopher baby!!!!! BIG10 here I come!"

Smith averaged 14.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals per game as a junior last season. He shot just 36.4% from the field, but a respectable 36.2% from three-point range.

According to multiple reports, Smith is eligible to play immediately in 2013.

The Gophers still have two scholarships remaining if reports of Joe Coleman's transfer come to fruition.
