The Minnesota Timberwolves announced on Tuesday that point guard Ricky Rubio was named to the NBA's all-rookie team.
Rubio finished behind only Cleveland guard Kyrie Irving in voting, which is handled by coaches. Denver's Kenneth Faried, Golden State's Klay Thompson, New York's Iman Shumpert, San Antonio's Kawhi Leonard and Detroit's Brandon Knight also earned first-team honors.
Derrick Williams was named to the all-rookie second team.
Prior to tearing his ACL on March 9 Rubio, 21, averaged 10.6 points, 8.2 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals while shooting 34% from three-point range.
Williams, 20, averaged 8.8 points and 4.7 rebounds in 21.5 minutes per game while shooting 41% overall.
Rubio joins Pooh Richardson, Christian Laettner, Isaiah Rider, Stephon Marbury, Wally Szczerbiak, and Randy Foye as Timberwolves rookies to earn first team honors during their rookie seasons in Minnesota.
