MINNEAPOLIS - Xavier Rhodes injured his ankle while covering deep pass attempt in the second quarter. The ball fell incomplete to Ted Ginn Jr., but Rhodes appeared to trip near the sideline and came up limping.
He returned to the game, but left in the second half for good and will not return.
Rhodes had primarily played left corner back in the Vikings' nickel defensive packages Sunday. The rookie's absence was another hit to the secondary, in an afternoon riddled with bad news.
The team also lost starters Harrison Smith and Desmond Bishop during Sunday's game.
