Scott Diamond threw a fastball over Josh Hamilton's head on Thursday night and was promptly ejected.
Now he'll miss at least one start.
Major League Baseball announced Friday evening that Diamond will be suspended for six games, thus effectively bumping him from his scheduled start on Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners. Diamond plans to appeal the suspension.
The incident occured after Rangers starter Roy Oswalt hit Joe Mauer in the upper back on a 3-0 pitch in the top of the third inning. Diamond retaliated with one out in the bottom of the inning by throwing at Hamilton. He was promptly ejected, without a warning, by home plate umpire Wally Bell. Manager Ron Gardenhire was also ejected.
