The Minnesota Vikings announced seven inactives for Sunday's regular season opener at the Detroit Lions.
Quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson, safety Mistral Raymond, rookie linebackers Gerald Hoges and Michael Mauti, guard Jeff Baca, defensive end George Johnson and defensive tackle Kevin Williams will not suit up.
The most notable of the inactives is safety Mistral Raymond, who won the starting job alongside safety Harrison Smith in last year's training camp. Raymond went down with a dislocated ankle in Week 3 and lost the starting job to Jamarca Sanford.
This time around, Raymond battled a hamstring issue in training camp and now has an AC strain in his shoulder that he has managed to practice through. Raymond was not listed on the Vikings final injury report, but his inactive status is likely a way to keep him on the bench and not further the injury.
Guion to start
Guion already started at the nose tackle, opening up room for Fred Evans to start on Sunday. Look for a complete rotation along the interior defensive line as rookie defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd will also swap snaps with Guion at undertackle and Guion will likely move back to nose tackle for Evans at times.
