The Minnesota Vikings have made clear they want to re-sign Sidney Rice.

It apparently won't happen anytime soon.

Rice's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Sunday the receiver will not re-sign with the Vikings before testing free agency.

Of course, the next collective-bargaining agreement will determine whether Rice even can become an unrestricted free agent. With four years of NFL service, Rice is part of the group of players who could be restricted if the minimum rises to five or six, as many teams hope.

Multiple reports on Saturday said the Vikings hope to re-sign Rice to a multiyear deal. However, it's unclear whether the contract offer Vikings coach Leslie Frazier revealed on Friday was anything more than a one-year restricted tender.
