Minnesota Timberwolves backup forward Dante Cunningham has been charged with felony domestic assault by strangulation, per the Hennepin County Sheriff's Jail roster.

Cunningham, 26, was arrested Thursday by the Medina Police Department on suspicion of domestic assault. Cunningham is still in custody as of Friday evening, his bail has been set at $40,000.

The Star Tribune obtained the criminal complaint. Per the Strib:

"According to the criminal complaint, the woman called 911 early Thursday to say Cunningham had tried to strangle her. When police arrived, they found she had redness and marks on her neck.

The woman told them that she has been dating Cunningham since last summer and that they have lived together for eight months, the complaint said. She said they had been having problems lately.

About 3:30 a.m. Thursday, they got into an argument and she locked the bedroom door after Cunningham left in anger, she told police. A short time later, the complaint said, he came back and kicked in the bedroom door. He grabbed her by the neck, slammed her against the wall and choked her for about 15 to 20 seconds before letting her go and leaving the home, the complaint says."

Cunningham's court date is set for Monday at 1:30 p.m.
