Malcolm Lee is about to get back on the court.
As expected he Minnesota Timberwolves assigned the rookie point guard to the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA Development League on Monday as Lee begins his journey back from a knee injury.
A second-round draft pick out of UCLA, Lee underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee on Dec. 30 and has yet to appear in a regular-season game. He is expected to play for the Skyforce on Tuesday against Dakota.
Per NBA rules, a first- or second-year player can be assigned to the team's D-League affiliate a maximum of three times in a season.
