The NBA will send the Minnesota Timberwolves to Mexico City for a game this coming season.
The league announced Tuesday that the Wolves will face the San Antonio Spurs on Dec. 4 at Mexico City Arena. The NBA also will have the Atlanta Hawks play the Brooklyn Nets on Jan. 16 at the O2 in London. The Wolves will be the "home team" against the Spurs.
It's the first time regular-season games will be played in two countries outside of the United States and Canada in the same season.
In March, the league announced eight preseason games would be played in several countries from Oct. 5-18. The Wolves will face Boston on Oct. 20 in a preseason game in Montreal.
These two regular-season games bring the NBA's global package next season to 12 teams playing 10 regular-season and preseason games in eight cities in six countries and territories.© The Associated Press
