Tom Kelly and Bert Blyleven will manage the Futures Game as part of the All-Star festivities at Target Field. Kelly will manage the United State team, while Blyleven will manage the World Team.

The 16th Futures Game will take place Sunday, July 13th.

Personally, the Futures Games is one of my favorite parts about the All-Star break. Seeing the stars of tomorrow before they're stars is pretty cool, in a baseball hipster sort of way.

My only gripe is that the current format, which pits the U.S. prospects against the rest of the world, leads to a big disparity in talent favoring the United States. There are simple solutions, such as making it American League vs. National League, or any number of other creative solutions.

For what it's worth, Kelly managed 2,385 games in the big leagues (.478 win percentage). Blyleven managed zero, although he has experience working with the Dutch Team in the World Baseball Classic.

For more information the game, here's a link to the press release on the Twins' website.
