The Minnesota Twins have activated designated hitter Jim Thome from the disabled list, optioning outfielder Rene Tosoni back to Triple-A Rochester to make room.
Thome was originally set to be activated for Friday night's game, but manager Ron Gardenhire said the slugger experienced "some issues" with his back on Thursday, causing a temporary delay.
In 94 plate appearances this season, Thome -- who has played in only eight games since April 30 -- owns a .237/.372/.447 batting line with four home runs.
Tosoni saw limited playing time, but he came up with a key hit in last Sunday's win over the San Diego Padres.
