The Minnesota Twins announced Wednesday they have reached a deal with No. 4 overall pick Kohl Stewart. According to Baseball America, Stewart signed for the full slot value of $4.4 million.
As the top-ranked high school pitcher in the country, Stewart posted a record of 5-1 with a 0.18 ERA in 40.0 innings pitched with 59 strikeouts and 16 walks. This marks the first time since 1992 (Dan Serafini) the Twins have taken a high school pitcher with their first pick.
As of Wednesday, the Twins have signed a total of 23 players from the 2013 draft, including 21 of their first 25 picks.
