Let the September call-ups begin.
The Minnesota Twins announced on Thursday right-handed reliever Jim Hoey will be recalled for Friday's series opener against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim.
Hoey has appeared in 17 games for the Twins this season, going 1-2 with a 7.71 earned-run average, eight walks and nine strikeouts in 14 innings. He has been far better at Triple-A Rochester, going 1-3 with a 3.83 ERA, 21 walks and 38 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings.
Thursday marked for the first day for expanded rosters, with any player on a team's 40-man roster eligible to appear in a game through the end of the season.
