Twins call up seven after Triple-A Rochester eliminated from playoffs

MINNEAPOLIS - The Rochester Red Wings had their season come to an end with a 3-0 loss in the decisive fifth game of the series versus the Pawtucket Red Sox. The Red Wings were held to just four hits, as knuckleballer Charlie Haeger and three relievers combined for the shutout.
Virgil Vasquez started for the Red Wings but only lasted three innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits. Logan Darnell and Shairon Martis combined to shut the PawSox down the rest of the way, but the damage was done.
This loss cleared the way for the Twins to make their official September call-ups Sunday afternoon. Here's the list:

1B Chris Parmelee (.231/.318/.370 in 198 PA at Triple-A; .223/.302/.372 in 274 PA with Twins)
IF Eduardo Escobar (.307/.380/.500 in 188 PA at Triple-A; .214/.268/.328 in 143 PA with Twins)
LHP Scott Diamond (4-0, 2.41 ERA, 1.02 WHIP at Triple-A; 5-10, 5.52 ERA, 1.55 WHIP with Twins)
RHP Cole De Vries (4-6, 4.96 ERA, 1.44 WHIP across four levels)
RHP Michael Tonkin (3.47 ERA, 10.4 K/9, 1.23 WHIP across two levels;
RHP Shairon Martis** (2-4, 4.26 ERA, 1.23 WHIP at Triple-A)
** Fryer and Martis had their contracts purchased from Rochester to add them to the 40-man roster prior to their promotions. To make room for them, the Twins transferred starting pitcher Samuel Deduno and outfielder Wilkin Ramirez to the 60-day disabled list.
