MINNEAPOLIS -- Liam Hendriks doesn't have a whole lot left to prove at Triple-A Rochester, but that's where he'll be pitching for the foreseeable future.

The Minnesota Twins announced Saturday Hendriks was optioned to Rochester to make room for the returning Scott Diamond, who will make his first start of the season against the New York Mets.

Hendriks allowed five earned runs in two starts to begin the season (9 2/3 innings), striking out five and walking one.

In 25 career Triple-A appearances, Hendriks owns a 2.95 ERA with 112 strikeouts and only 31 walks issued in 155 2/3 innings.

The Twins considered sending left-hander Pedro Hernandez to Triple-A -- or to the disabled list with a sore calf -- but he checked out healthy enough on Saturday that he could pitch again in a few days.
