After Thursday's loss to the Indians, the Twins optioned shortstop Pedro Florimon and utility man Chris Herrmann to the minor leagues.

The Twins will announce corresponding roster moves Friday.

With Joe Mauer still unable to play, and Sam Fuld placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list, the Twins played Thursday with one player -- Florimon -- available on the bench.

Infielder Eduardo Escobar started in center field out of necessity.

The Twins have 13 pitchers and 10 position players on the active roster.
