MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed relief pitcher Clay Condrey on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow strain.
To replace Condrey on the 25-man roster, the Twins recalled right-hander Alex Burnett from Triple-A Rochester. Burnett is expected to join the team in Anaheim on Sunday before the regular season opener.
Burnett has yet to throw a pitch above the AA level, but he finished last season with a 1.85 ERA and 78 strikeouts to just 26 walks in 78 innings between A+ Fort Myers and AA New Britain. Burnett pitched four innings for the Twins in spring training, allowing three earned runs and four walks. He also struck out four.
