Orlando Hudson has been placed on the disabled list with a strained right oblique. To fill his roster spot, the Twins have recalled catcher Jose Morales from Class-AAA Rochester.
Hudson suffered the injury on Friday night after hitting a fly ball to centerfield. He took two steps out of the batter's box and immediately crumbled to the ground in pain.
Morales was hitting .280/.373/.391 in 261 plate appearances at Rochester before his call-up, and he hit .311/.381/.361 for the Twins in 2009.
The addition of Morales gives the Twins three catchers, and more flexibility to allow Joe Mauer to DH.
