Samuel Deduno won't be starting the season on the Minnesota Twins' roster.

The team announced Tuesday morning that it has reassigned Deduno and fellow righthander P.J. Walters to its minor league camp.

The Twins now have 29 active players in camp, including 16 pitchers (two non-roster), two catchers, six infielders and five outfielders (one non-roster).

Pitchers Scott Diamond (left elbow) and Anthony Swarzak (ribs) are on the disabled list.

Deduno was a star for the Dominican Republic this month as it won the World Baseball Classic. However, he injured his groin pitching in the championship game of the tournament against Puerto Rico and was shut down by the Twins.

He was scratched from his scheduled start last Sunday against Toronto.
