The bullpen was stretched pretty thin in last night's 9-5 loss to the Phillies, and as a result the Twins have recalled RHP Jeff Manship from Class-AAA Rochester in time for this afternoon's game.

Shortstop Trevor Plouffe has been optioned back to Rochester, according to the Pioneer Press.

Manship has pitched in two games for the Twins this season, allowing two earned runs in 7 1/3 innings. He struck out six and walked one. At Rochester, Manship has posted a 4.43 ERA with 51 strikeouts and 15 walks in 65 innings.

Plouffe was hitting .130/.125/.174 in 26 plate appearances with the Twins.

The Twins used five relief pitchers in last night's game after Nick Blackburn was unable to pitch out of the second inning.
