The Minnesota Twins kicked off the second day of baseball's first-year player draft by selecting right-hander and Eden Prairie native Madison Boer with the 87th overall pick -- then proceeded to take 20 more pitchers among their 29 selections on Tuesday.

Fresh off his junior year at the University of Oregon, Boer (6-foot-4, 215 pounds) recorded a 2.27 ERA in 18 games with the Ducks this season. The 21-year-old held batters to a .234 average and struck out 74.

It is the highest in the draft the Twins have taken a Minnesota-born player since they selected Glen Perkins in the first round of the 2004 draft.
