In the wake of the recent demotion of struggling starter Vance Worley, the Minnesota Twins are preparing to call up P.J. Walters from Triple-A Rochester.

Red Wings beat reporter Jim Mandelaro tweeted Thursday evening that Walters told him he was going to be promoted and would get the "start this weekend."

Walters, who started 12 games for the Twins last season, has posted a 3.31 ERA this season in nine games with the Red Wings.

The promotion of Walters swiftly ended speculation that widely-heralded right-handed prospect Kyle Gibson would be brought up to make his MLB debut.

Walters is the second new addition to the Twins starting rotation this week. Samuel Deduno recently took over Pedro Hernandez's spot, and is slated to start Friday in Detroit.
