The red-hot Chris Parmelee will remain in the minor leagues for now.
Instead of Parmelee, the Minnesota Twins will call up 31-year-old outfielder Matt Carson from Triple-A Rochester prior to this weekend's series in Seattle.
A corresponding move to make room on the 40-man roster will likely be announced Friday.
with a .277/.339/.447 batting line and 14 home runs, Carson has been one of Rochester's best players this season. He played briefly in the major leagues with Oakland in 2009 and 2010, posting a .200/.210/.370 batting line with five home runs in 105 plate appearances.
With outfielder Denard Span questionable this weekend due to a sore shoulder, the Twins likely need a short-term backup outfielder. Parmelee won't be recalled until he can start every day.
