Minnesota Twins right-hander Nick Blackburn left Sunday's game after only 1 1/3 innings with "sharp" pain in his right forearm, and it's likely he will be placed on the 15-day disabled list before Monday night's game against the Baltimore Orioles.
To take Blackburn's place, the Twins will recall right-hander Lester Oliveros, a baseball source told 1500 ESPN's Patrick Reusse.
Update: The Twins made the move official prior to batting practice Monday night.
Oliveros was acquired last week from the Detroit Tigers as the player to be named later in the Delmon Young trade. In two appearances for Triple-A Rochester, Oliveros has allowed one earned run on two hits to go along with four strikeouts.
In 48 total innings between Double- and Triple-A this season, Oliveros, 23, owns a 4.12 ERA with 58 strikeouts and 21 walks in 48 innings.
On Sunday, manager Ron Gardenhire said Oliveros is "definitely a guy we'd like to see up here, in September at least, to see what we have. If he's going to be one of these guys that comes into camp with a chance to be in our bullpen, then I would like to see him here."
