Down to only one healthy bench player on Wednesday night, the Minnesota Twins plan to recall infielder Luke Hughes in time for Thursday's game at Target Field against the New York Yankees.
Hughes will likely take the place of either Denard Span (lingering concussion symptoms) or Michael Cuddyer (sore neck) -- both of whom have been sidelined over the past few games.
Infielder Matt Tolbert, who has been suffering from a sprained wrist, came in to pinch run for Jim Thome on Wednesday night, but when his spot in the batting order came up in the ninth inning he was only able to bunt, even with the bases loaded and two outs.
