'U' women's rally falls short, season ends in WNIT against Ball State

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Gophers women's basketball team rallied from 16 points down before falling 54-51 to Ball State on Friday night at Williams Arena, ending its season in the WNIT first round.
Micaella Riche had 18 points and eight rebounds for the "U" (18-14), which shot only 29.5% from the field.
Ball State (16-15) raced to an 11-0 lead and pushed the advantage to 51-35 with 6 minutes, 11 seconds left in regulation.
The Gophers pulled with two on two occasions in the final minutes before Ball State hit its free throws to seal the victory.
