EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- The Minnesota Vikings wasted little time beginning to fill their practice squad on Sunday morning.
Within minutes after the waiver period ended at 11 a.m. CT, defensive tackle Tremaine Johnson had been re-signed to the practice squad, an NFL source said. The Star Tribune reported fullback Ryan D'Imperio and receiver Freddie Brown signed, too.
Each NFL team gets eight spots on the practice squad.
UPDATE, 12:23 p.m.: Receiver Logan Payne, safety Colt Anderson, cornerback Marcus Sherels and guard Thomas Austin also were on the field for practice on Sunday. That makes seven. Triplett was not on the field, indicating he may have been claimed on waivers.
UPDATE, 3:09 p.m.: Childress said Triplett cleared waivers but the team is going in another direction. The plan was to bring back offensive tackle Patrick Brown, but the New York Jets grabbed him off waivers. Another tackle, Chris Clark, also landed elsewhere, so the Vikings are actively trying to find someone else.
UPDATE, 6:56 p.m.: The Vikings filled the last spot with former Denver guard Seth Olsen.
