EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Adrian Peterson and Blair Walsh played big roles in the Minnesota Vikings' four-game winning streak to end the regular season.
It was no surprise on Thursday when Peterson and Walsh were named NFC players of the month for offense and special teams, respectively.
Peterson set an NFL record for yards in a month with 861 on 135 carries and scored five touchdowns. It's the first time Peterson has won player of the month honors and the first time a Viking has won the offensive award since Brett Favre in November 2009.
Walsh is the first Vikings kicker to win player of the month honors since 1994. He was 11-for-12 on field goals and eclipsed a single-season NFL record, finishing with 10 field goals from 50 yards or longer.
