Southern California might soon tie Notre Dame for most players on the Vikings roster.

Former Trojans defensive end Lawrence Jackson spent Thursday and a portion of Friday at Winter Park on a visit.

Jackson, 27, confirmed the visit on Twitter. He also wrote the Detroit Lions, with whom he played the past three seasons after two in Seattle, had made an offer.

A source close to Jackson said the Vikings have maintained dialogue since the visit, so there's definitely interest. The sense as of Monday afternoon was the Vikings hadn't formally extended an offer.

Jackson was Seattle's first-round pick (28th overall) in 2008. He has 19½ career sacks and has forced four fumbles.

The Vikings' top three defensive ends -- Jared Allen, Brian Robison and Everson Griffen -- all are unsigned beyond the end of the 2013 season.
