CHICAGO -- As expected, the Minnesota Vikings deactivated cornerback Antoine Winfield for Sunday night's game against the Chicago Bears.
Less expected: Julius Peppers got the start for the Bears six days after spraining a knee in a loss to Detroit.
Like Winfield, Peppers was listed on the injury report as doubtful -- a designation that means he had "a 25% chance for playing." However, there had been speculation here the designation was payback for the teams' last meeting on Dec. 20, when then-Vikings quarterback Brett Favre was upgraded from out to questionable on game day and ended up starting.
Inactive for the Bears were: quarterback Nathan Enderle, receiver Earl Bennett, tackle Gabe Carimi, defensive tackle Matt Toeaina, end Nick Reed, end Corey Wootton and safety Chris Harris.
Chris Conte got his first career start at free safety in place of Brandon Meriweather and Major Wright got the start at strong safety in place of Harris.
