Vikings' depth chart puts Asher Allen, not Lito Sheppard, as starting RCB

MANKATO, Minn. -- The Minnesota Vikings finally released a training-camp depth chart on Tuesday afternoon, and there was one particularly notable listing.

Asher Allen, not Lito Sheppard, is listed as the starter at right cornerback.

Sheppard has gotten the majority of reps there with the starters in camp, but Allen has been impressive throughout the offseason and seems to be making a push.

It should be noted that reading too much (if anything) into depth charts is silly, especially at this time of year. For instance, the Vikings seem in spots to have listed players based on when they joined the team -- such as Logan Payne being a fourth-team receiver behind undrafted rookie Marquis Hamilton.

But it's nonetheless a quasi-official indicator on where players stand as preseason games loom, not to mention a catalyst for some debate.

One other important note: no, Brett Favre hasn't been demoted to fourth string. He's listed there because the Vikings placed him on the reserve/did not report list at the start of camp.
