The Minnesota Vikings made official the signing of halfback Lorenzo Booker on Tuesday and cleared room for him on the 53-man roster by placing halfback Albert Young on injured reserve.
Young did not have a previously disclosed injury, but he had a large bag of ice on his left knee after Sunday's game against Buffalo. He appeared in only three games this seson, carrying 13 times for 29 yards -- all but three of them against the Bills -- and catching two passes for 11.
As a second-year pro, Young had to be waived/injured before being placed on IR.
Interim coach Leslie Frazier confirmed on Monday the team planned to sign Booker and take a look at him on third downs.
Also on Tuesday, the Vikings waived center Adrian Martinez from the practice squad and replaced him with rookie quarterback R.J. Archer, who spent time with the team in the offseason but was cut before training camp.
