SAN FRANCISCO -- It appears the Minnesota Vikings dodged a bullet with their starting nose tackle.

Coach Leslie Frazier said Letroy Guion should be back in plenty of time for the regular season after injuring the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Friday's exhibition opener.

"They told me he may miss a week or two," Frazier said. "It's a (PCL) injury. So, I'll learn more about it (in the next 24 hours). But initially, they've told me maybe a week or two."

Guion left the game on the San Francisco 49ers' opening drive, and the team quickly announced he wouldn't return. He later was seen limping in the bench area with a bag of ice on the knee.

The Vikings gave Guion $1.5 million in bonuses on the three-year, $9 million contract they gave him in March and are counting on him as their starting nose tackle.

Fred Evans also figures to play significant snaps there. Beyond that, depth is thin, although Frazier pointed to seventh-round pick Trevor Guyton as another option.

"We think (Guyton) can help us as well," Frazier said. "But it doesn't sound like we're going to lose Letroy for an extended period of time, so I think he'll be fine based on what I've been told."
