The Vikings on Wednesday officially announced two signings.

Defensive tackle Fred Evans likely will be a rotational player on the defensive line. Meanwhile, guard offensive lineman Charlie Johnson may start again at left guard. Johnson is back on a two-year deal, while

Another minor note, nose tackle Linval Joseph will wear No. 98.

And he didn't even need to buy someone a watch.

Letroy Guion -- who was cut and signed by the Packers -- wore No. 98 last season, so the big defensive lineman won't need to wrest the jersey away from a teammate.

If you missed the reference, here's the story on an interesting Twitter back-and-forth between Captain Munnerlyn (No. 24, formerly 41) and Mistral Raymond (No. 41).

Raymond, of course, isn't obligated to give up his jersey number. Munnerlyn, though, figures to be a much more critical part of the Vikings' defense this season.
