The Minnesota Vikings filled Percy Harvin's vacated spot on the 53-man roster at an unexpected position.
Tackle Troy Kropog was promoted from the practice squad on Friday afternoon, the team announced.
Kropog, 26, was a fourth-round draft pick in 2009 out of Tulane who appeared in seven games over parts of four seasons with the Tennessee Titans.
The 6-foot-6, 325-pound tackle was waived by the Titans in September and claimed by Jacksonville, which cut him three days later. He signed to the Vikings practice squad on Sept. 18.
The move gives the Vikings nine offensive linemen on the active roster. They've been activating seven on game days, with Joe Berger and Geoff Schwartz serving as the backups.
The Vikings had a spot open since Wednesday, when they placed receiver Percy Harvin (ankle) on injured reserve.
