Rhett Bomar's uphill battle to make the Minnesota Vikings roster became the least of his problems early Sunday morning.
The 26-year-old quarterback was arrested and booked on third-degree drunk driving charges early Sunday morning, according to Blue Earth County Jail records.
The Star Tribune reported Bomar was arrested near downtown Mankato and released by Sunday evening. Players were off on Sunday following the team's annual night practice on Saturday night and due to be back on the field at 9 a.m. Monday.
Barring injury, Bomar entered training camp with almost no chance to make the roster. The Vikings traded for Donovan McNabb to be their starter last month, and Christian Ponder and Joe Webb had been splitting second- and third-team reps, leaving Bomar to pick up scraps.
The Vikings signed Bomar to a three-year deal off the New York Giants' practice squad in December.
