SAN DIEGO -- Little more than 24 hours before Sunday's season opener, the Minnesota Vikings still are tweaking their 53-man roster.

The team announced late Saturday morning it has re-signed rookie tight end Allen Reisner to the active roster and waived guard Seth Olsen.

The move comes at the end of a week in which starting tight end Visanthe Shiancoe practiced fully on three consecutive days for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in training camp.

It was not immediately clear whether promoting Reisner -- an impressive undrafted rookie from Iowa who was waived on Sunday, then brought back on the practice squad the next day -- was a reaction to concern about Shiancoe's health or simply a game plan decision.

The Vikings were scheduled to travel to San Diego on Saturday afternoon.
