The Vikings on Friday re-signed wide receiver Jerome Simpson to one-year contract, the team announced.
Simpson adds depth to a receiving corps that includes Greg Jennings, Cordarrelle Patterson and Jarius Wright. It remains to be seen if they'll add another receiver to that group, but tight end Kyle Rudolph figures to be active in Norv Turner's offense, too.
It's Simpson's third season with the Vikings.
He was arrested for drunken-driving in November and pleaded guilty to careless driving and third-degree DWI (refusal to submit to a breathalyzer test). Many expect he'll face an NFL suspension. Tom Pelissero of the USA Today reported Friday that the case still is under review.
