The Minnesota Vikings will visit San Francisco for a nationally televised exhibition game on Aug. 25.
That game -- a 7 p.m. Central start on NBC's Sunday Night Football -- is part of a preseason slate the NFL unveiled on Thursday that includes national TV games for every 2012 playoff team.
The Vikings open the preseason at home against Houston, then play consecutive road games at Buffalo and San Francisco before wrapping the preseason against Tennessee.
Times and dates for the other three games will be finalized later.
The fact the third preseason game is the national TV broadcast is no surprise, since that's the game in which reigning MVP Adrian Peterson is likely to get the most work.
Of course, the point might be moot, since Peterson sat out the preseason last year while recovering from left knee reconstruction and went on to have one of the great seasons in NFL history.
The NFL is expected to release the regular-season schedule later this month.
Vikings' preseason games
Week 1 vs. Houston Texans (Aug. 8 through 10)
Week 2 at Buffalo (Aug. 15 through 17)
Week 3 at San Francisco (7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 25)
Week 4 vs. Tennessee (Aug. 29 through 30)
