The Minnesota Vikings waived defensive end Justin Trattou on Saturday and upgraded tight end Chase Ford from their practice squad to the 53-man roster.

Trattou, 25, signed with the Vikings on Oct. 9 after being released by the New York Giants. He did not play any defensive snaps.

Ford, 23, was among the final cuts when he made the practice squad this season. This is Ford's first time making a 53-man roster after going undrafted in 2012.  He had a stint on the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad before the Vikings added him in December.

Coach Leslie Fraizer ruled out tight end Rhett Ellison (knee) for Sunday night's game against the Green Bay Packers.
