EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- So much for Jaymar Johnson's strong preseason start.
The Minnesota Vikings waived/injured the third-year receiver on Wednesday to make room for quarterback Brett Favre, who was reinstated from the did not report list.
Johnson had two 19-yard catches in Saturday's exhibition opener at St. Louis but reportedly broke his left thumb returning a punt. Waiving him as injured is a precursor to placing him on IR and working out an injury settlement.
Logan Payne and Taye Biddle stand to get the first shots at taking over the No. 5 receiver role.
