Nick Taylor won't get a second long-shot chance at making the Minnesota Vikings' roster.

The Vikings announced on Tuesday they've waived Taylor, a onetime backup point guard on Florida International's basketball team who was trying to make the transition to cornerback.

Taylor, 25, had only some minor arena league experience when the Vikings signed him in March 2012 after seeing him blaze the 40-yard dash in 4.34 and 4.27 seconds at FIU's pro day. But he suffered a shoulder injury early in training camp, was placed on injured reserve and missed the season.

It wasn't all bad for Taylor, who didn't receive a signing bonus on his three-year contract. By landing on IR, he collected a one-year split salary of $273,000.
