Wild acquire veteran center Mike Rupp from Rangers for two players

The Minnesota Wild aren't wasting time shaking up their roster in a lockout-shortened season.

The team announced on Monday it has acquired veteran center Mike Rupp from the New York Rangers for center Darroll Powe and right wing Nick Palmieri.

"Rupp is a big guy who has won the Stanley Cup," Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher said in a statement. "He brings size, experience and grit to our lineup."

Rupp, 33, has 53 goals, 41 assists and 765 penalty minutes in 565 NHL games over 10 seasons with New Jersey, Phoenix, Columbus, Pittsburgh and the Rangers. He's 6-foot-5 and 243 pounds and has 78 career fights.

The Wild face Phoenix on Monday night.
