Mikko Koivu was placed on the Injured Reserve on Monday after ankle surgery, the team announced.

The Wild said that it was to repair an ankle fracture suffered in Saturday's game against the Capitals.

Minnesota deemed the surgery "successful," like seemingly every announced surgery in sports history.

Koivu is expected to miss roughly four weeks, according to the team's release. After Minnesota's Feb. 6 home game against Nashville, the NHL will break for three weeks for the Winter Olympics.
