The Gophers' leading scorer has officially turned pro.
The Minnesota Wild announced Sunday morning it has signed 22-year-old forward Erik Haula to an entry-level contract. Haula led the Gophers with 51 points (16 goals, 35 assists) in 37 games in his junior season.
Haula, a seventh-round pick by the Wild in 2009, is expected to join the Houston Aeros on Sunday.
It also was announced that Gophers junior defenseman Mark Alt has signed an entry-level contract with the Philadelphia Flyers. Alt was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round of the 2010 draft. The Hurricanes traded Alt's rights to the Philadelphia Flyers during the 2012-13 season.
