The Minnesota Wild has re-signed center James Sheppard, the team announced today.
The former first-round pick (ninth overall in 2006) appeared in 64 games last season, finishing with two goals, four assists and 38 penalty minutes. Sheppard, 22, is entering his fourth NHL season.
The team also made one-year qualifying offers to five restricted free agents: left wings Guillaume Latendresse and Matt Kassian, goalies Josh Harding and Anton Khudobin and defenseman Nate Prosser.
Center Morten Madsen and defenseman Jamie Fraser did not receive qualifying offers.
